Press Enter to open chat, type a slash command, and press Enter again to send it. The in-game /emotes command prints the current list, so it is the best fallback if a future patch adds or removes an animation.
Current Emote Commands

| Command | Effect |
|---|---|
| /sit | Uses the race-specific sitting pose; also available with X by default |
| /sit2 | Alternate sit for Changs, Imps and Byrdles; Byrdles reuse their normal sit |
| /taunt | Plays the looping taunt animation |
| /shrug | Performs a short shrug |
| /clap | Performs a short clap |
| /think | Shows the thinking pose and bubble |
| /ponder | Uses the same pose as /think with different chat text |
| /dance | Plays a dance unique to the character's race |
| /point | Points in the direction the character faces |
| /nod | Performs two quick nods |
| /emotes | Displays the available emote-command list |
Race Differences
Dance and sitting animations vary by race. Changs have a distinctive belly-down /sit2 pose, while the October 2025 update moved the Imp's floating sit to /sit2 and gave Imps a conventional /sit animation. Byrdles accept /sit2, but it currently uses the same animation as /sit.
Chat Notes
ATLYSS multiplayer currently provides Global, Zone and numbered chat channels. Zone messages are limited to players in the same map instance. Emotes can broadcast short action text, so avoid repeatedly triggering them in public lobbies.
If a command does nothing:
- Confirm the chat box is focused before typing.
- Include the leading slash and do not add punctuation.
- Try /emotes to verify the command still exists in your build.
- Launch vanilla if a chat or UI mod has changed input handling.
- Check the configured Open Chat key if Enter no longer works.
