ATLYSS is a singleplayer and online action RPG built around locally saved characters. You can use the same character in solo play and multiplayer, but new players should learn the controls and make their first save backup before experimenting with mods.
1. Create Your Character

Choose from five ATLYSS races: Imp, Poon, Kubold, Byrdle and Chang. Each begins with a different racial skill, but those skills can later be learned by other races through Skill Scrolls. Race is therefore mainly an appearance and role-playing choice in the long term.
Your level-10 class choice is different: Fighter, Mystic and Bandit are intended to be permanent. Read the classes guide before using a Class Tome.
2. Complete the Sanctum Introduction
Speak with Angela near the World Portal and complete A Warm Welcome. Visit the marked Sanctum services, including Sally's shop, Enok's barracks and the gateway, then return to Angela. Activate waypoints whenever you enter a new area; they save a great deal of travel after a defeat or Recall.
Useful default keys include:
| Action | Key |
|---|---|
| Interact / pick up | F |
| Recall | G |
| Items / Skills / Stats / Quests | I / K / P / L |
| Block | Right mouse button |
| Open chat | Enter |
See the controls and mechanics guide if your bindings differ.
3. Early Progression
- Follow Angela's quests into Outer Sanctum and the Sanctum Catacombs.
- Complete the level-4 guardian skill quest that matches your intended build.
- Equip newer drops instead of holding low-level starter gear for its appearance; vanity slots can handle cosmetics later.
- Put early points into the combat stat used by your planned class, while adding enough Vitality to survive mistakes.
- Use Recovery between encounters and learn to block or parry telegraphed attacks.
The current overworld was substantially revised by the October 2025 Dediscovery update, so videos showing Woodreach Pass or an older Crescent route may no longer match the game.
4. Your First Dungeon
The Sanctum Catacombs use instanced layouts with combat rooms, levers, chests and a dungeon sigil. Bring healing items, keep inventory space for rewards and attune the sigil before leaving. Dungeon parties support up to four players; the party leader selects and starts the instance.
If a door remains closed, check for an enemy on another elevation or a lever in a side room. Use Recall with G if the run is complete and no exit portal is convenient.
5. Reaching Level 10
At level 10, obtain one Class Tome from its guardian:
| Class | Guardian | Main stat | Typical weapons |
|---|---|---|---|
| Fighter | Enok | Strength | Blades, Maces, Greatblades, Hammers, Polearms |
| Mystic | Angela | Mind | Scepters, Bells |
| Bandit | Sally | Dexterity | Katars, Bows, Shotguns |
Weapons are not absolutely class-locked, but their scaling, mastery skills and class armor strongly reward a coherent build. Tome of Unlearning resets Skill Points and Tome of Naivety resets Attribute Points; neither changes your class.
Before You Continue
- Back up ATLYSS_Data/profileCollections before installing mods or editing saves.
- Keep a few inventory slots free before turning in quests.
- Read item tooltips instead of relying on old stat tables from Early Access builds.
- Use the current locations guide for Crescent Keep, Crescent Grove and later routes.
- Download the game only from the official Steam page.
