ATLYSS has an active community mod scene centered on Thunderstore. Mods are not the same as Steam Workshop items: as of this update, ATLYSS does not expose an official Steam Workshop, so most players use r2modman, Gale or Thunderstore Mod Manager with BepInEx.
Recommended Installation Method
- Install r2modman, Gale, or Thunderstore Mod Manager from its official source.
- Select ATLYSS and create a fresh profile.
- Install the manager-selected BepInExPack so dependencies are resolved automatically. Do not force the newest BepInEx version when a package pins an older compatible release.
- Add one mod at a time and read its version requirements.
- Launch with Start modded. Use Start vanilla when troubleshooting.
Profile-based managers keep mod files separate from the base installation and make it easier to disable incompatible packages after a patch.
Where to Find ATLYSS Mods

- Thunderstore: the primary catalog, with dependency handling, version history and NSFW/deprecated filters.
- GitHub: useful for source code, issue trackers and tools such as the open-source ATLYSS Save Editor.
- Nexus Mods or GameBanana: may contain individual uploads, but verify their update date and original author.
- Steam Workshop: not currently the normal ATLYSS mod distribution route.
Never download a DLL or executable from an anonymous mirror when the author provides an official Thunderstore or GitHub page.
Useful Mod Categories
Quality of Life
Inventory helpers, UI adjustments, name tools, performance settings and Discord Rich Presence are common low-impact choices. Even client-side mods can break after a UI or Unity update, so check the changelog.
Custom Maps
Crescent Cove by Lola is a Thunderstore custom map that uses MapLoader. It is separate from the vanilla Crescent Cove fishing spot in Crescent Road. Install the map and its listed dependencies through a manager; MapLoader adds the relevant portal.
Character and NPC Mods
Character Freedom and similar packages expand appearance sliders. Other players may need the same package to see values outside vanilla limits. NPC or model replacements can also conflict with game updates and should be tested offline first.
Mature or NSFW Mods
Thunderstore provides a dedicated NSFW visibility filter. Mature packages are third-party, may be unsuitable for minors or public lobbies, and can carry a higher compatibility risk. This guide does not host explicit files or direct users to piracy/adult-content mirrors.
Compatibility with Current Versions
The 12026 update changed UI text and condition systems, and its official notes warned that some UI mods could break. Before reporting a game bug:
- Update BepInEx and every package.
- Create a new manager profile with only the suspected mod.
- Launch vanilla and reproduce the issue.
- Check the mod's Thunderstore dependency list and GitHub issues.
- Share the manager profile code with friends when a multiplayer mod requires matching setups.
Steam Deck and Linux
r2modman provides Linux packages. After building a profile, copy the launch argument shown in its Help section into ATLYSS's Steam Launch Options. Steam Deck users may need Desktop Mode for installation and should test native gamepad input separately from modded UI packages.
Mods vs Save Editors
A save editor changes files in ATLYSS_Data/profileCollections; it is not a BepInEx mod. Back up that entire folder and disable Steam Cloud temporarily before repairing files. See the dedicated ATLYSS Save Editor & Backup Guide.
Safety Checklist
- Back up saves before installing or updating mods.
- Prefer manager profiles over manual DLL copying.
- Check last-updated dates after every ATLYSS patch.
- Do not use item-spawn or cheat functions to disrupt public multiplayer.
- Keep a clean vanilla profile for support and bug reports.
