Atlyss Character Classes

ATLYSS classes guide compares Novice, Fighter, Mystic and Bandit roles, stat priorities, skills and build paths, plus the latest subclass information.

Every character starts as a Novice. At level 10, choose one permanent core class by using the Class Tome provided by its guardian: Fighter from Enok, Mystic from Angela, or Bandit from Sally.

Core Classes

FighterStrengthBlades, Maces, Greatblades, Hammers, PolearmsMelee pressure, blocking, crowd control and physical defense
MysticMindScepters, BellsElemental magic, ranged control, group support and healing

Weapons are not hard-locked by class, but class skills and armor requirements reward matching the intended damage stat.

Subclasses & Pipeline Status

Subclasses are actively evolving toward the 1.0 release. Three are currently playable at Level 28:

  • Paladin (Fighter): Early holy/support frontline hybrid.
  • Bishop (Mystic): Dedicated group healer and radiant magic dealer (Healos, Shadow Ward, Chroma Ray, Genesis).
  • Magus (Mystic): Offensive shadow damage caster wielding Ruin and Haste.

Development Pipeline: The Engineer & Level 38 Cap

The developer (Kiseff) has previewed upcoming class features slated for the Redwoud expansion:

  • Bandit Subclass: Engineer: A gadget- and electricity-based combat specialist focused on stamina-spammable positioning, shock debuffs, and trap utility.
  • Upcoming Weapon Class: Whips: A new dexterity/hybrid weapon category with custom combat animations.
  • Level Cap Increase: Expanding from the current Level 32 cap to Level 38, along with new dungeon tiers and high-level gear sets.

Current Level 28 subclass tomes are acquired via the temporary Mad Statue / Experience Bond route.

Combat Balance & Condition Updates (12026.a1–a3)

Recent patches refined condition mechanics significantly:

  • Shadow Ward: Adjusted to enforce a strict duration timer.
  • Siphon Leech: Damage and tick percentages were tuned so the condition is correctly blockable.
  • Boss Stuns: Resolved an issue where Galius could leap while stunned.
  • Lethal Strike: Planned removal of the charge requirement to streamline burst combos.

Can You Reset a Class?

Core class and subclass choices are intended to be permanent. Tome of Unlearning resets Skill Points, and Tome of Naivety resets Attribute Points, but neither changes your base class. Creating another character is the fully supported way to experience multiple playstyles.

Community save editing can alter class IDs in ATLYSS_Data/profileCollections, but it is unsupported and risks corruption. Back up your files before attempting manual edits (see Save Editor Guide).
