Atlyss Beginner's Guide

Welcome to Atlyss, an open-world action RPG where you'll battle countless enemies either solo or with friends. This comprehensive guide will help new players navigate through the early game, covering everything from basic mechanics to your first boss fight.

Getting Started

Character Creation

Your journey begins in the Sanctum, the main hub of Atlyss. When creating your character, you'll choose from five unique races:

First Steps

  1. Head to the large tower and speak with the magical goat lady (Angela)
  2. Accept the "A Warm Welcome" quest
  3. Visit the following locations:
    • World Portal (middle of Angela's Tower)
    • Shop (left side, green sign)
    • Gateway (right side, guarded by NPCs)
    • Barracks (left past the shop)
  4. Return to Angela to complete the quest and receive your Newfold Halo

Early Game Progression

Level 1-6 Preparation

Before entering your first dungeon, consider completing these repeatable quests:

  • "Night Spirits"
  • "Ridding Slimes"

Early Game Drops:

  • From Slimes:
    • Weapons: Slimecrust Blade, Slimecrust Katars
    • Armor: Wooden Shield, Slimecrust Chest, Slimecrust Leggings
    • Trade Items: Slime Core, Slime Ears, Rock
  • From Wisps:
    • Weapons: Splitbark Scepter
    • Armor: Worn Robe
    • Trade Items: Rock, Ghostdust

Skill Development

Initial skills available:

  1. Recovery (Priority)
  2. Rock Toss
  3. Racial Skill

Stat Distribution Tips:

  • Invest in Vitality first (aim for 12 points)
  • Allocate remaining points based on your intended class:
    • Fighter → Strength
    • Bandit → Dexterity
    • Mystic → Mind

Your First Dungeon: The Catacombs

Location & Access

Find the crypt in the Outer Sanctum, marked by an orange crystal waypoint. This allows quick travel from the World Portal.

Dungeon Mechanics

  • Random layout patterns
  • Look for levers and keys to progress
  • Purple smoke rooms indicate enemy waves
  • Complete waves to unlock doors and chest spawns
  • Find and attune to the eye-shaped Sigil
  • Use 'G' key to return or find the blue portal at the end

Important Tips

  1. Don't leave without attuning the Sigil
  2. Gather loot from chests for better gear
  3. Watch for purple smoke rooms
  4. Use the Recovery skill between fights

First Boss: Slime Diva

Prerequisites

  • Complete the Catacombs quest
  • Accept "Effold Terrace" quest
  • Reach level 5-8 (recommended)

Boss Fight Location

Head to Effold Terrace, find the arena with slime glyphs on the gate.

Battle Strategy

  1. Kill approximately 8 Slimeks to spawn the boss
  2. Attack after her animations
  3. Use ranged attacks when possible:
    • Scepters
    • Bells
    • Bows
    • Rock Throwing

Reaching Level 10

Class Selection

At level 10, you can choose your class from:

  1. Mystic (from Angela)
    • Specializes in ranged attacks and utility skills
    • Default weapons: Scepters and Bells
  2. Bandit (from Sally)
    • Mobile class focused on movement and dodging
    • Default weapons: Katars and Bows
  3. Fighter (from Enok)
    • Straightforward melee combat
    • Default weapons: Swords, Hammers, and Polearms

Important Notes

  • Classes are NOT reversible
  • Each class comes with a unique armor set
  • Weapon proficiency can be changed using specific stones

Combat Tips

  1. Blocking & Parrying

    • Large parry window
    • Watch for pink animations
    • Can block while moving
    • Can block mid-attack
  2. Movement

    • Stay steady when attacking
    • Use jump attacks for mobility
    • Combine blocking with dashing
  3. Equipment

    • Keep gear level-appropriate
    • Use shields with one-handed weapons
    • Check damage thresholds on shields
    • Visit Vivian for gear modifiers
  4. Multiplayer

    • Dungeons scale with party size
    • Enemies become tankier
    • Coordinate with teammates
